A Year After the Haiti Earthquake

It has been almost a year since the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Everyone I know in Haiti is still sleeping under tarps and temporary shelters. We have several sites with structures going up and are finally about to get a container of needed building supplies sent over, but once the Haiti story faded from the news it also faded from most everyone's minds. Haiti is just too close to forget. I will be back in Haiti both January and February  to oversee ongoing building projects and help with…See More

Greetings from Port-a-Prince

Greetings from Haiti,Port-a-Prince remains in shambles. There are noticeably less people on the streets. In the areas we work no one has yet seen the distribution of food even once since the earthquake. After several attempts and working with other NGO's, I have come to expect we will not. Politics? We have gotten several shelters built that are being used for school, sleeping, children shelters, etc, and hope to have a cargo container with building material arrive soon. We also practice buying…See More

Live from Haiti,

I am traveling with a New York Post photojournalist, Marcus Santos. Between Marcus' multi-language skills and Josue's Creole we were easily able to navigate our way into Haiti. View Marcus' images at…

“Into Haiti” update Jan 30th

I was amazed to learn from our medical team, most people in Port-a-Prince did not know what had happened when the earthquake hit. They had nothing to relate it to. Even well educated locals had no idea what they had just experienced. It took hours for many to learn they had just gone through a major earthquake. Josue said he was walking home when it hit. Everything around him crumbled. When he got to his home he found his wife holding their child, in shock, just standing in the doorway of their… Continue

Into Haiti #3 Sat. Jan. 23rd

Saturday January 23rd

If you are following this post you know a medical team sent from a church (West Acres Baptist Church) in Georgia has partnered with our network of Haitian nationals living in Haiti. The intent is to set up a portable hospital where our orphans are located in the Carrefour Feuilles neighborhood of Port-au-Prince.

Nathan Pierce from Hollister, Ca. rushed off Tuesday night to meet up with them in Georgia. They all arrived in the Dominican Republic… Continue

Hey Don,

I have been to Haiti 4 times with campus ministry groups from NC State University and my youth ministry kids. I am in Raleigh, NC. Our church has connections with a home for boys in Petionville and CODEP (Comprehensive Development Project of Haiti) in L'Acul. I also have some connections with Haiti Outreach Ministries in Cite Soleil. I have had amazing experiences in Haiti and love the people and their country. I would love to know more about your organization and possibly a visit next time I'm there. I visit as often as I can, usually about twice a year. Our youth group works also in Mexico with Faith Ministry building homes, American Caribbean Experience in Jamaica, and Common Hope in Guatemala.
