Three Locations:
Pine Ridge Native American Reservation, U.S.A. (North America)
Inner City {location to be determined} (Europe)
Bangladesh {location to be determined} (Asia)

Big Challenge
Around the world many communities struggle with poverty. They have low water quality, limited access to food and little power to change their situation. Often there is no choice but to rely on handouts and work long hours for little reprieve from hunger and poverty. This cycle of poverty continues generation after generation with little hope of transformation. Whole communities are affected. Neighbors sometimes work together to support one another creating a strong sense of togetherness and community closeness.

Bigger Solution
I am proposing to create a three part system to help three communities.

Part 1.
Create or Improve a viable and sustainable water and sewage that will utilize environmentally friendly water collection and treatment practices. Utilize treatment practices that would naturally assist in creating healthy and sustainable gardens.

Part 2.
Create a large community garden with plants that are sustainable, high producing, native or would naturally thrive in the area planted, and produce seeds. Utilize items such as worm bins and compost to create natural methods to keep soil and plants healthy and thriving for years to come. Educate communities on environmentally friendly practices that can not only help communities save money but also preserve the land for the next generation.

Part 3.
Provide communities with a few starter low maintenance livestock (chickens, pigs, etc.) that will help provide access to meat, milk, cheese, and eggs.

This is my project idea. I think if we work with several different organizations we can make this project a huge success. We can also show how working together can turn around the cycle of poverty and create a new cycle of hope.

My hope is that through this project we can create sustainable and reproducible solutions to help communities that are seized by the effects of poverty. By showing how this system can help three very different locations with three very unique situations, we can initiate a new way to help communities out of the cycle of poverty and into a cycle of success and prosperity and hope.
