Paul, I think the Member Skills is a RAD Idea! I think most everyone on here would like to donate more than just their Ideas. Many skills can be over the internet also, such as Graphic Design, Web Design, Legal Work, Project Management. I assumed it WAS built into the profile, it seems very necessary for people to begin to collaborate on things that may not make it all the way to an episode of IT-TV.

Jo thats a totally hott idea- maybe something like this? http://connect-tajikistan.org/blog/?p=162 I know I love our teahouse & I also love the internet, so, BAM!

And Sander, I'd totally be down for some flight simulator :) - maybe we could train other kinds of skillsets through IP based mediums, maybe an Internet cafe type vocational school teaching underprivileged using virtualization software and video on demand lecture series?

Eion & Paul I also agree somebrand of integrated personal skill set visualisation community mapping wiki tool would be ultra effective in taking community census - and building an easy to see map of what we all have to bring to the table.

so yeah, cool :)

Jo, I think that's a great idea! As much as the military already uses the virtualization software to train the soldiers to fight - this would be a great twist on the same theme! What do you think it would take to make it happen?

I was trying to plan at one point creating a rec center where internet and gaming could be brought to the troops in places where they normally don't have access. Giving them away to not feel completely disconnected from the real world. Just being able to make a simple phone call means so much. The gaming helps build moral and make them feel a little closer to home and normality.

Thank you for your thoughts, this is exactly the direction we are headed!

I would suggest that the community needs a listing of skills or experiences. Perhaps part of the member profile? For instance, cement work, iron welding, Aluminum welding, sound editor, grips, or, in Sander's case, international bird-man! Or better yet, project-by-project skills needed list. Projects that I see need a vast array of tallent.
